    iPhone Class Action Lawsuit

A Cook County, Illinois resident has filed a class action lawsuit against Apple and AT&T over the iPhone.

Jose Trujillo is claiming that Apple and AT&T misled iPhone buyers by not clearly informing them that the iPhone battery was sealed, and could only be professionally replaced.

    According to the papers:

Unknown to the Plaintiff, and undisclosed to the public, prior to purchase, the iPhone is a sealed unit with its battery soldered on the inside of the device so that it cannot be changed by the owner…The battery enclosed in the iPhone can only be charged approximately 300 times before it will be in need of replacement, necessitating a new battery annually for owners of the iPhone.

The suit would appear to have little credibility; the sealed battery issue was reported extensively prior to the iPhone being launched and was certainly never kept as a secret.

State Farm Offering Insurance for iPhone

Jeff Bricker’s got a few calls to make.
Until this week, the local State Farm agent was turning away clients who wanted insurance on their spiffy new— and expensive — Apple iPhones.
That changed this week, Bricker learned.
Because the iPhones are so expensive — retailing for $500 or $600, depending on the model — State Farm decided to cover them under a personal-article policy for $32.50 per year and no deductible.

Belkin Slim-Fit Case for iPhone Review

    Reviewed by K.C. Kim
    $29.99
    http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=374799

The Slim-Fit case provides complete protection while allowing you to quickly remove your iPhone so you catch that important phone call. With the comfortable belt clip, you'll always have it close and convenient.

    Features

    * Made with soft-durable leather construction
    * Features flexible bottom for quick phone removal
    * Features elastic siding for perfect fit and easy access
    * Includes low-profile belt clip
    * Comes with Belkin Lifetime Warranty

Intro: This will be one of many iPhone case reviews. This particular review is for the Belkin Slim-Fit Case for iPhone.

Design: The Belkin case is made of nice black leather construction with black stitching. There is a Belkin logo made of some kind of metal on the front of the case. Other than that it a pretty standard pouch case. It is in fact a slim fit with little bulk added to the iPhone. There is an opening on top to slide it into the case. And bottom has a flexible material. Belt clip is attached to the unit and does not stick out much.

Function: I absolutely love the design of this case. But the easy removal is not true. The case is very tight to the iPhone so I have to pull and tug from the bottom to get the iPhone out. Most likely the tightness is to reduce the iPhone falling out because of lack of flap to hold it in.

Conclusion: Other than the removing of the iPhone I really like this case. It’s slim, businesslike, fits comfortably on waist.

Rumor. 6G iPod User Interface Redesign and Videos

MacRumors lays down new info on the 6G Ipod.

An anonymous source now claims that the iPod interface will be revamped to a more visual interface, with iPhone-like design elements and transitions. The new interface will incorporate Ken Burns album art transitions, Cover Flow and a new split-screen interface. The overall look and feel will be familiar to current iPod owners but have the additional visual flair.

It's not yet clear if OS X is hidden behind this new user interface, but Steve Jobs had recently revealed that they are working on OS X based iPods.

The following interface videos have also been provided, and though their authenticity can't be guaranteed, they certainly look convincing. The Beatles' albums appear to play a large role in the interface videos, suggesting that online Beatles sales will launch concurrently with the 6G iPod's release.

    Rumor. Nano new details emerge

Once again 9to5mac spills news about the new nano's that should be coming out soon.

The Nano line is also due for a revision update sometime in the near future (the current Nano back to school promotion ends Sept 16th?)and will likely become a landscape device and could, in fact, lose the "Nano" moniker. Details are still emerging about how much functionality the new devices will have but the new aspect ratio would seem to indicate that these devices will have the ability to play video. The storage of the devices is not known but bumping them up to sizes larger than the iPhone (16GB?) might be a psychological barrier that Apple doesn't want to break.

    Rumor. 6G ipods August 7th?

9 to 5 mac reports of a possible August 7th date for new Ipods.

    Here's what they say.

Also arriving on or around August 7th will most likely be the next revision of the video iPods. Sources indicate that these video iPods will have an almost one inch shorter and about half an inch wider appearance than current models which account for slightly larger screens and the removal of the regions between the click wheel and the screen and the click wheel and the bottom of the iPod. A mock up is pictured at the right. ------>

Some sources have also indicated that the Black Matte version of the Video iPod will also be "less shiny and more MacBooky".
